Injection lipolysis is the administration of special slimming products. They are injected subcutaneously into problem areas of the body. Fat-dissolving agents include products such as enzymes (PBSerum).
Lipolytics are substances that activate the breakdown of fat cells. All lipolytics are made from natural ingredients. Depending on their mechanism of action, there are two types of lipolytics:
Direct lipolytics – destroy fat cells, and the breakdown products are naturally eliminated from the body. Examples of direct lipolytics include sodium deoxycholate and phosphatidylcholine.
Indirect lipolytics – act indirectly, burning fat by activating biochemical processes without destroying the fat cell itself. These are often used in areas with a relatively thin layer of fat (for example, the face).
One injection affects fat deposits covering an area of about 20 cm². Depending on the size and depth of the problem area, 1 to 4 procedures are recommended at intervals of 21 days.
Lipolytics are supplied and administered as a combination of the ready-made product and an anesthetic, making the procedure comfortable for the patient.
Enzymes are protein compounds naturally present in the body that act as catalysts for metabolic processes. Without them, biochemical processes in the body would function incompletely.
Injections of specific enzymes target localized fat deposits, cellulite, and help restore skin elasticity. This treatment method is called enzyme lipolysis or enzymotherapy.
There are two generations of enzyme-based products:
First generation – a triad consisting of lipase, hyaluronidase, and collagenase. Each enzyme serves a specific purpose:
Lipase stimulates the breakdown of fat cells, reducing fat deposits in volume.
Hyaluronidase decreases intercellular edema, which is important in treating edematous cellulite.
Collagenase stimulates the production of new collagen, making the skin firmer and more elastic.
Second generation – contains lipase, lyase, collagenase, and hyaluronic acid, which additionally hydrates the skin.
Each enzyme comes in an individual vial. The doctor selects the necessary enzyme types, creating a unique cocktail for each patient based on the treatment goal, skin condition, age, and individual characteristics. A local anesthetic, longocaine, is added to the cocktail to ensure maximum comfort during the procedure. Using a topical anesthetic cream is not recommended, as it increases the risk of bruising and can reduce the procedure’s effectiveness.
Enzymotherapy is often used for body contouring, helping create smoother, more feminine body curves. A minimum of 4 to 6 sessions is recommended, with intervals of 7–14 days.
Lipolytic injections are most commonly used for the following areas:
Lower abdomen
Fat deposits on the thighs (“saddlebags”)
Upper back under the shoulder blades
Base of the neck (“buffalo hump”)
Lipomas in any area
Lower thigh, areas above the knees
Mammary glands (for gynecomastia in men)
PBSerum enzymes are used to correct the following areas:
Face contouring
Waist shaping
Areas above the knees
Thigh “saddlebags”
Lower abdomen
Arms
Buttocks and inner thighs
The main advantages of lipolytics are:
Relatively fast results
Ability to target specific areas
Can reduce cellulite and fat layers up to 5 cm
Minimal recovery period
Relatively long-lasting effect
Disadvantages include:
Relative pain (even with local anesthesia)
Possibility of scars and bruising
Allergic reactions
Possible uneven results (“dimpling”)
Loose and sagging skin in the treated area
Today, PBSerum enzyme therapy offers many advantages with virtually no drawbacks.
Benefits of enzyme therapy:
Pronounced and long-lasting aesthetic results
Free of preservatives
Hypoallergenic
High safety profile
Ability to create individualized cocktails for each patient
Lipolysis combined with tissue lifting
Precision correction of areas requiring “fine-tuning”
Minimal discomfort during the procedure
No recovery period
Minimal risk of complications
Enzyme therapy is currently considered the most effective, modern, and safe method for injection-based body contouring, as it stimulates and enhances the body’s natural processes and addresses multiple concerns—not only localized fat reduction but also cellulite treatment, skin hydration, and lifting after weight loss.
Visible results can be seen after the very first session. The maximum effect develops within two months after completing the course of treatments. For more significant results, ANACOSMA clinic doctors recommend combining lipolytic injections with lymphatic drainage mesotherapy, subcutaneous fat ozone therapy, and device-based procedures such as Cristal cryolipolysis, along with an additional course of skin lifting and body contouring on the Eximia device.
The optimal combination of treatments to achieve the desired results is selected individually by the doctor.
Slimming injections have an irreversible effect on adipocytes. Once destroyed, they do not regenerate in the injection area.
