Radiesse – what is it?
A preparation for injection cosmetology based on calcium hydroxyapatite. It provides non-surgical lifting with preservation of the result up to 2 years. The principle of the Radiesse preparation is simple: first, the gel carrier acts as a filler, filling large creases, replenishing the volumes lost on the face with age, which makes it seem tired and lifts sagging tissues.
Immediately after the injection of preparation, lifting effect is observed. After 2 months, macrophage cells (cells of the immune system) destroy the gel carrier. But within this time, the body itself forms the skeleton of the problem area from its own collagen, the synthesis of which is triggered by calcium ions, which are part of the preparation. Ions Ca2 + and PO3- – a natural building material of bones and teeth. They stimulate the synthesis of collagen and elastin by skin cells. A new dermal matrix is formed, so that the skin becomes dense, sagging is eliminated.
Due to the size of the calcium microspheres, even after the formation of the matrix and immediately after the injection of the gel, the area with the filler remains movable and soft.
Radiesse Volumizing – what is it?
Injection procedure with Radiesse. Thanks to the lifting effect and the restoration of lost volumes it was named this way. A beautician or a plastic surgeon using a cannula injects the preparation in a fan-like manner, with the preparation being injected through only one point to all necessary zones). Radiesse consists of a carrier gel and calcium hydroxyapatite (CHA). All components are natural substances. Calcium stimulates the synthesis of collagen and elastin by the deep layers of the skin. Radiesse is a universal preparation that is used to correct protruding veins in the hands and rejuvenate sagging facial skin, lowering of soft tissues, deep creases of the nasolabial zone, cheekbones. Calcium hydroxyapatite (CHA) provides a rejuvenating effect, lifting effect. In Europe, this German preparation has been used since 2003. During this time, millions of women and men have used it. In Ukraine, it is the only officially registered and approved filler based on calcium hydroxyapatite.
For what purposes and zones is Radiesse used
- The preparation is recommended for the correction of age-related changes for patients 30-55 years old.
- Radiesse is used for correction:
- temporal zone. With age, soft tissues are lowered in areas of the cheekbones. And the injection fills the hollows and stimulates the synthesis of collagen;
- areas of the nasolabial triangle. Deep creases are immediately smoothened with the gel carrier. And due to the synthesis of collagen in the further time it solves the problem for 18-24 months [1];
- cheekbones, so that they become more pronounced;
- lower jaw shape. Ca ions form a new framework for tissues on the lower jaw that has floated in the area of the second chin. A couple of injections solve the problem and restore clarity to the oval of the face, expressiveness of the chin;
- the back of the nose. Contour plastic Radiesse can replace plastic surgery. Injections correct the hump on the back, the sunken nose tip. Unlike hyaluronic acid, which resolves after 6 months, the effect of the calcium-based filler lasts up to 2 years [2];
- skeletonization of the arms veins. Radiesse fills the hollows in the tissues of the hands, smoothening skin color, adding youthful volume and making the skin of the hands denser, eliminates small wrinkles on the hands.
What procedures are Radiesse used for?
One of the advantages of contour plastics with calcium hydroxyapatite (CHA) is that manipulation can be combined with other anti-aging procedures:
- Altera system lifting (USA). The nozzle of the device acts with ultrasound on the SMAS layer, thus tightening the muscles and skin without surgery, preventing gravitational ptosis. Whereas Radiesse – effectively restores the missing volumes. Both procedures also stimulate collagen production, fighting sagging skin that has lost tone as well as small wrinkles. Also, Radiesse, together with ultrasound, copes well with atrophic scars [3].
- botulinum toxin injections. It is complex of rejuvenation the whole face with the help of contouring. Radiesse injections restore the lost volume of the face and tighten the lower and middle third of the face, while Botox, Dysport or Xeomin injections eliminate facial wrinkles around the eyes and lips, facial wrinkles on the forehead and in the area between the eyebrows, eyebrows are raised. Introduction Radiesse highlights the cheekbones, removes the second chin, makes the oval of the face more clear and expressive.
Benefits of Radiesse Volumization
- Safenety. Radiesse is biodegradable and bioinert. It does not cause allergies, tissue rejection.
- The tissues where the preparation was injected remain soft and movable. No ossification sites are formed.
- Fixing of the filler exactly at the injection point. Radiesse does not migrate, does not shift.
- The duration of the result. Even after the removal of calcium hydroxyapatite (CHA) from the body, the dermal matrix from collagen remains at the injection point.
- Fast result. Due to the carrier gel, the effect of the injection is immediately noticeable.
- Minimum invasiveness. In contrast to the classical lifting operation, Radies does not cause scars, sutures, or bruises during the correction of jowls, and does not require long-term recovery. In addition, filler is injected with cannula, so the risk of bruising is much less.
- The ability to combine with other anti-aging procedures. Within one visit to the cosmetologist, it is possible to remove age-related changes and wrinkles in all areas of the face, neck, and décolleté.
- Natural result. Ideal for people prone to swelling. The preparation does not “pull” water on itself, unlike fillers based on hyaluronic acid, so the result is natural, there is no swelling effect.
Possible complications after injection of Radiesse
If patient violates the rules of getting ready for manipulation or recommendations for the recovery period, bruises may appear at the filler injection point. Often a similar complication occurs when patients smoke because nicotine disordered the normal functioning of blood vessels. Nicotine provokes fragility of blood vessels. Therefore, such problems appear.
