Plump and raised upper lip in one procedure and forever!
In today’s world, plump lips are considered an essential attribute of femininity and sexuality. Lip augmentation helps achieve this effect. This mini-surgery is very popular among celebrities, and numerous before-and-after photos can be found online.
There are non-surgical and surgical methods to achieve the desired “kissed lips” effect. The non-surgical or injection method provides a temporary result by injecting a special filler that volumizes the lips. Surgical lip augmentation, which corrects the shape, symmetry, and other features of the lips, is called cheiloplasty, and its results are permanent.
Bullhorn is a type of cheiloplasty. This procedure corrects the upper lip in people with a large distance between the upper lip and the nose (more than 12–15 mm). During the surgery, the edge of the red contour of the upper lip is lifted upward. As a result, the lips appear fuller and more luscious.
Depending on the incision location, there are two modifications of the Bullhorn procedure:
External Bullhorn – a single incision is made under the nose;
Italian Bullhorn – a small separate incision is made under each nostril.
There are many types of cheiloplasty, each performed with a specific purpose.
The VY technique is suitable for patients whose nose is at a normal distance from the upper lip. This method involves making V-shaped incisions on the inner mucosal surface of the upper lip, which are then sutured in a Y shape. These sutures help to increase the volume of the upper lip.
The “Paris” technique is similar to VY. In this case, both vertical and horizontal incisions are made. After suturing, the central part of the lip takes on a heart-shaped appearance.
Reduction cheiloplasty is used for excessively long lips. The procedure involves removing a portion of lip skin in an elliptical shape. This creates the desired lip shape, making the face appear more harmonious.
Kessler ring is a type of cheiloplasty suitable for patients with thin mucosa (which may be damaged using other techniques). This method involves making a fine incision along the lip contour and delicately everting it.
Corner Lift and DAO resection are two cheiloplasty methods aimed at lifting the corners of the mouth. The Corner Lift is used for age-related drooping of the mouth corners, where excess skin is removed from the corners of the mouth and above the upper lip.
DAO resection involves cutting the Depressor anguli oris muscle. Immediately after the resection, the corners of the mouth are lifted. The advantage of DAO cheiloplasty is that the incisions are made inside the oral cavity, avoiding visible scars. DAO resection restores a smiling, relaxed, and happy facial expression.
To achieve the desired result, the surgeon may combine two techniques (for example, DAO resection and Bullhorn). Kyiv offers a wide range of clinics, but at Anacosma, highly qualified specialists are available who know all the intricacies of cheiloplasty.
