Bullhorn lip lift

Before the operation, the plastic surgeon must examine and interview the patient. Bullhorn surgery is not performed for gummy smiles, as lifting the lip will exacerbate the defect. A simple test helps to determine whether a client is suitable for a bullhorn: the patient opens his mouth, if the upper teeth are not visible, then this operation technique is suitable. • 1 week before surgery: minimize physical activity, visit the pool, gym, sauna; do not do massage and epilation in the intervention area.
• 3-4 days before the operation: do not carry out cosmetic procedures; do not use creams, lotions and other cosmetics.
• on the day of surgery: do not apply makeup; remove contact lenses and dentures, if there are any.

Bullhorn cheiloplasty is a minimally invasive plastic surgery. Therefore, there is no need for hospitalization. The stages of the operation can be divided this way:

1. The skin is treated with antiseptic agents.
2. The surgeon makes the markings along which the incisions will be made.
3. The surgical site is anesthetized with an anesthetic – local anesthesia is preferable for this operation. But in the event that the client is too worried, intravenous sedation may be offered.
4. According to the marking, the surgeon makes an incision, removes excess tissue, tightens the edges of the skin, due to which the red border of the upper lip is slightly turned inside out. Thus, the lip becomes more voluminous. The suture is applied so that the scar will not be visible at all after healing.

The duration of the operation is from 30 minutes to 1 hour. In the case of using local anesthesia, the patient can go home after 3-4 hours.

For the first week or two, there will be swelling, bruising, minor pain. If the sutures were applied with non-absorbable sutures, then they are removed after 7-10 days. Rehabilitation after cheiloplasty consists in following the recommendations:

• the area of the seams must be treated with special solutions for 2-3 weeks;
• for two weeks it is necessary to limit sports, visits to the sauna, swimming pool, solarium;
• eat food that should be chewed as little as possible;
• reduce mimic activity;
• refuse from hot meals and drinks.

Only if all the recommendations of the surgeon are followed, the rehabilitation period will pass without complications

The first results will be seen after the swelling goes away. But full recovery can be assessed only after 2-2.5 months. Bullhorn gives a permanent result, therefore, after a year, and after five years, the smile will still be charming and sexy.
